London, 23rd April 2025 – Mahavir Foundation was deeply honoured to be invited to the prestigious Mahavir Jayanti celebration held at 10 Downing Street, hosted by the Prime Minister’s Office in collaboration with the Institute of Jainology (IOJ). This special occasion marked the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, and brought together dignitaries, faith leaders, and community representatives to reflect on the enduring relevance of Jain values in modern society.
Representing Mahavir Foundation were our President Shri Nirajbhai Sutaria and Vice President Shri Mukeshbhai Kapashi, who were privileged to attend this meaningful event and represent the Foundation’s continued commitment to promoting Jain philosophy and values.
The event highlighted Bhagwan Mahavir’s timeless teachings of Ahimsa (non-violence), Karuna (compassion), Sanyam (self-discipline), and Anekantavada (respect for multiple viewpoints)—principles that offer guidance in today’s complex and interconnected world.
In a warm and inclusive atmosphere, dignitaries including Lord Khan of Burnley and Gareth Thomas MP expressed admiration for the Jain community’s contribution to British society and reiterated support for wider recognition of Jain values at the national level. The lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the collective chanting of the Navkar Mantra provided a spiritually uplifting conclusion to the evening.
Mahavir Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister’s Office and the Institute of Jainology for hosting such a profound and memorable event. It was truly a proud moment for the Jain community, and a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to peace, compassion, and inclusivity in British public life.
