Position: Minister of Religion/Priest
Salary: £20,000 p.a.
Location: Kenton, Middlesex
Mahavir Foundation Ltd is a religious charity organisation operating a Jain temple in Kenton, London. The Foundation is inviting applications for a post of full time Minister of Religion/Priest for the temple at 557 Kenton Road, Kenton, Middlesex HA3 9RS. The right candidate must have a minimum degree level qualification and must be able to communicate effectively in English language. The right candidate must also have minimum experience of working as a priest or equivalent job for at least 3 years and must produce a letter of experience from the recognised religious trust/organisation or a recognised religious Guru.
The job duties involve:
• leading worship everyday regularly and on special occasions;
• ability to perform various religious rituals on special occasions;
• Performing Samayik and Pratikraman daily or on special occasions;
• Knowledge of other leading Jain rituals and ability to perform them on daily basis including Ashta – Prakari Pooja, Snatra-Pooja, Aarti, Mangal divo,
• giving religious education to children and adults by preaching and teaching various Jain scriptures;
• officiating at marriages, birth, funerals and other special services;
• offering counselling and welfare support to members of the congregation;
The candidate must be fluent in Gujarati and Hindi languages and must have skills of communicating to the congregation. The candidate will be expected to perform all daily activities of a traditional Jain temple and also organise religious functions. Inspiring people to recognise learn and practise good values and non-violence would be considered as an additional advantage.
